P.A.L. Fresno Flag Football Rules
I. The Playing Field:
- The regulation playing field is 80 yards long and 50 yards wide, with a 10-yard end zone beyond each goal line.
- No obstacles are allowed in the end zones.
- Players must be on team rosters during the league to be eligible for tournaments. Rosters must be submitted to the president two weeks before the tournament.
- Teams must specify if they will have Junior Varsity (JV) or Varsity teams for both league play and tournaments. Teams cannot be added just for tournaments.
II. Equipment:
- Players may wear rubber all-purpose cleats or tennis shoes, and shoes must be worn at all times.
- Flags must be between 16 to 18 inches in length and attached to belts with quick-release clips. If a player is caught using illegal flags, the penalty is 10 yards. Twisting or tying the flag belts is prohibited.
- Varsity games will use a youth-sized ball, while JV games will use a junior-sized ball. It is the home team’s responsibility to supply the game ball.
III. Time of Game:
- Varsity games consist of two 20-minute running halves, while JV games consist of two 16-minute running halves.
- The clock only stops for time-outs, emergencies, and the last two minutes of the second half for out-of-bounds plays, incomplete passes, penalties, changes of possession, and a two-minute warning.
